Tu Calendar 2023 – The big thing 2023 brings in terms of holidays is a slightly longer break in Golden Week in October, thanks to the Mid-Autumn Festival which takes place just before the national holiday.
An oddity this year is that Grave Sweeping Day is only a one-day weekend on Wednesday (isn’t that like Humpback Day?)
Tu Calendar 2023
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, these makeup days are ridiculous. A vacation is not a vacation if you have to “earn” by working seven days before or after a week.

But (a) the 2023 bank holiday calendar is here so you can start filling in days off in advance; (b) create various sick leave requests to roll up the sleeve for use at appropriate times; and (c) consider finding a distant relative whose “death” you can take advantage of for extra time off.
Again a three day “holiday” starting on a weekend (Saturday). It might be good to take Friday off and do it for four days.
The first of the makeup days after Saturday 28 January and Sunday 29 January shows its ugly face here (which means a very long eight day work week).

Herein lies the aforementioned strangeness: a day off in the middle of a work week. Sure it’s in line with the lunar calendar and all, but maybe last year he was too generous to let Monday when the holiday was Tuesday.
Workers of the world rejoice! A whole weekend and three days off for this holiday. But wait, these have to be done on, right? Be sure! You must work before Saturday (April 23) and after (May 6)!
Considering it’s a makeup day, one of the few holidays you might wonder why they changed it from three days to four takes place on Sunday, June 25.

This is one of those years when the Mid-Autumn Festival takes place around the same time as National Day, thanks to the lunar calendar. In light of this, this holiday is the longest holiday of the year with a total of eight days. It would be ten days if it weren’t for the makeup days on October 7th and 8th.
Here at True Run Media (The Beijinger’s parent company), we stopped giving staff weekend makeovers a few years ago because (a) we work hard year-round; (b) these weekends are always unproductive and demoralizing; (c) many of our staff have children or other weekend obligations to care for; and (d) so that we have extra time to squander the savings we have accumulated and thus stimulate the economy as all good citizens should.
We’re happier and more productive as a result, so why not take this to your boss or management?
