University Of Arkansas Spring 2023 Calendar – The Office of New Student and Family Programs is proud to announce First Generation College Student Week! For the first time in the history of the University of Arkansas, the university will dedicate 7-11 to the first batch of students, graduates and supporters celebrations in November.
We define “first generation” as someone whose parent/guardian did not graduate from a 4 year institution. About a quarter of students at the University of Arkansas are first-generation students.

This event is designed to support and celebrate first-generation students through community, resources, and of course, free food and treats.

The website has more than 50 first-generation success stories posted, a calendar of events for the week including details and all RSVP options, as well as pages to download email signatures, zoom backgrounds, and more. In the future, this website will become a repository page that brings together all of the first generation resources and programs for easy access by first generation students. Plus, we’re still collecting and compiling your first generation stories! All students, staff, lecturers and alumni are welcome to share knowledge. The University of Arkansas Library System partnered with us to archive this story for future generations, so don’t miss the opportunity to donate yours!
We can’t wait to celebrate the first generation of students and look forward to seeing you all week long! For questions or additional information, please contact Assistant Director Emily Cook, [email protected] or (479) 575-5002.
