Uci 2023 Race Calendar
Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is pleased to announce that the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will be further extended from 2023 with the introduction of enduro and E-enduro on the calendar. This follows the recent announcement of the addition of the Cross Country Marathon (XCM) to the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.

The existing Enduro World Series (EWS) is elevated to UCI World Cup status and will be offered alongside the Olympic Cross Country (XCO), Cross Country Short Course (XCC) Downhill (DHI) and XCM. All enduro events on the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will be one-day events.
Enduro (EDR) races have several special time stages – mostly downhill – and switching stages at the start of each special stage. In each special stage, riders start individually at regular intervals, and all recorded times are added to determine the winner. To reach the start of each special stage, riders cover the switch stages either by bicycle or with mechanical assistance (chair lifts, trucks etc.). The switching stages are not timed, but passengers must arrive at the start of this special stage within the set time.
New to each series of enduro races in the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will be a points system for each special time stage. A general classification based on points won will determine the order of riders for the final special stage, with the rider who has accumulated the most points derailing.

E-Enduro (E-EDR) follows the same principle, but the courses will be slightly different, including difficult technical climbs adapted to the characteristics of an E-mountain enduro bike.
The integration of enduro and E-enduro into the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is another development for the discipline since the UCI’s partnership with ESO Sports and Discovery Sports Events, two of the WBD’s specialist sports organisations. The integration of XCM into the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup program and the introduction of the under 23 category for the XCC was announced in September.
Another improvement to the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup from 2023 will be increased screen time for the elite downhill competitions thanks to the introduction, in each downhill round, of a semi-final between the qualifiers and the final. With the top 60 Elite Men and the top 15 Elite Women from qualifying, the semi-finals will see men outside the top 30 and women outside the top 10 enjoy broadcast coverage for the first time.

Forty Elite riders (30 men and 10 women) will qualify for the final, where the aim is to broadcast each of the 40 races in their entirety live on the WBD platform.
In addition, thanks to the increased participation in Junior Women, a qualifying race will be introduced for this category, with the 10 fastest going through to the final. The Junior Men’s and Junior Women’s competitions will also be broadcast for the first time.
The amendments to the UCI mountain bike regulations that come into force on 1 January 2023 can be consulted on the UCI website.
