This is a tool that allows you to understand how courses are linked in our curriculum to guide course registration and scheduling.

Begin by selecting the curriculum flow chart that corresponds to the year of entry into your academic catalog. With departmental approval, students may transfer to a newer catalog year if degree requirements change. Students may not transfer to a senior catalog year and may not mix or match requirements for catalog years. Students can request to change catalog years by completing the Academic Catalog Year – Change Request form.

The updated list of technical electives must be used by all students who begin their career at the university in the fall of 2017 and later. This updated list includes a new “career elective” category that allows mechanical engineering students to take up to 3 credit hours (toward their engineering elective requirements) in 300- or 400-level STEM courses that will enhance their career opportunities.
Mechanical engineering students who started higher education before fall 2017 (calendar year fall 2017) may apply to review the prerequisite and technical elective requirements. Continuing students who have already taken courses removed from the list of technical electives may request credit for the previous technical elective requirement if they still wish to have those courses counted towards their technical elective requirement. The department maintains a 2.25 cumulative grade point average (GPA) for lower level engineering courses. A GPA of 2.25 must be met in order for a student to advance to ME or TAM (usually at the 300/400 level). Failure to meet the 2.25 GPA will require retaking previous courses and potentially reducing the course load to meet the 2.25 GPA requirement.

As students advance to an advanced and specialized course, a Technical Cumulative GPA (TGPA) requirement is applied in addition to the traditional cumulative GPA requirement (> 2.0 GPA to stay off probation). Students who do not have a TGPA of at least 2.0 will be placed on probation and will not be able to graduate. For more information on probationary rules, see Student Code Article 3 – Academic Rules and Regulations.
On the back of the ME flow chart are the ME curriculum subjects subject to the 2.25 GPA and TGPA rules. The first VOICE readings of the semester will take place on October 13 at the Literary Bar at 7:00 p.m.

If so, consider applying for a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) scholarship for the summer of 2023 or the 2023-24 academic year. FLAS scholarships support both undergraduate and graduate studies in modern foreign languages with global or regional studies. The goal of the FLAS program is to train students to integrate global knowledge into future careers in areas of national need, such as cyber security and business, where proficiency in additional languages is critical. This scholarship provides students of all majors with the financial resources necessary to carry out research or creative projects during the academic year both on and off campus (including summer periods).
