San Ramon Valley Unified School District

Integrate classroom learning and real-world experiences. Target group: students in the second half of the degree with basic theoretical knowledge and possibly some work experience, who will do Co-op (32-40 hours per week) to apply important theoretical knowledge and expand the professional network.

Part-time professional training for students who want to enter a new field. Students work part-time to gain new skills, a new network and workplace culture.

Project work carried out in the workplace under the supervision of an employer supporter. Target audience: Students who are also working professionals and can arrange with their employer to undertake a project outside the scope of their normal responsibilities at the organization where they work or volunteer, or students who are supported by an employer partner.

Co-op, Part-time Co-op, and Experiential Learning at Work are all optional learning activities available in the program. Students can also complete Experimental Network (XN) projects. If you are interested in joining a co-op, part-time co-op, or other experiential learning opportunities, make sure you meet all eligibility requirements.

Your academic advisor will help you register for INT 6200 – Preparatory Studies if you are a graduate student or INT 2000 – Preparatory Studies if you are an undergraduate student. This 1-credit course is not required for students who intend to develop their own collaboration, but it is recommended. Successful completion of the INT course remains a requirement for those students seeking employment through our North East Advanced Opportunities (including access to NUworks) and those wishing to participate in the XN extracurricular project.

As an international student, you have the option of including a Co-op, Part-time Co-op or XN Project in your programme. We recommend starting your degree early to ensure it is integrated into your course of study, which will help you make the most of your opportunities while in the North East.

US-based students receiving paid employment who do not have a Social Security Number (SSN) must apply for an SSN once they have received CPT approval.
